Preliminary images have surfaced which showcase Porsche’s 918 Spyder prototype – complete with black and white paint scheme that evokes memories of the 917 racers of old. With production set to commence in a little over a year, the plug-in hybrid will feature a 500 horsepower 4.0-liter V8 engine and two electric motors – with 0-60 mph capabilities in 3.1 seconds and a top speed of 199 mph. One of the most unique elements of the automobile is that it can utilize electric power at speeds up to 94 mph. The Porsche 918 Spyder prototype will retail for $845,000 USD.

Mark Rothko’s 1961 oil painting, ‘Orange, Red, Yellow’, set a new auction record for post-war art on Tuesday at an “unprecedented” Christie’s sale.
 
The large-scale work soared to $86.9 million,  eclipsing the $86.3 million paid for Francis Bacon’s Triptych in 2008 as the most expensive post-war artwork at auction.

Orange, Red, Yellow had been in the collection of the late philanthropist David Pincus and was on loan for years at Philadelphia Museum of Art before its sale to an unnamed buyer.
 
Last week, the only privately owned version of Edvard Munch’s The Scream — one of the most recognizable paintings in history — set an overall world record for any work sold at public auction when it fetched $119.9 million at Sotheby’s in New York.

The collector’s item, called All Black Skull Bang is a 45 mm wide vertical satin-finished black ceramic watch, and will be available exclusively at the Saint Honoré Hublot shop, Paris. Limited to 100 units, the watch has been developed by Laurent Picciotto. The watch will sport 6 H-shaped black Titanium Screws, and will be encased within a polished and satin-finished ceramic case. Powered by the HUB 1112 Self-winding Movement, the watch has been finished with a cow band. It is priced at $12,900.

New York’s ‘One World Trade Center’ which is the world’s most expensive office tower is now officially also the tallest in the city. Yes, the skyscraper which is being built at the site of the fallen twin towers is now officially the tallest building in the Big Apple. When construction workers positioned a beam on what is currently the Center’s highest floor, it pushed the Empire State building into second place. When ready next year, the One World Trade Center will stand at 541 meters to the tip of its antenna!

The skyscraper which over looks the Ground Zero memorial site will be higher than the former twin towers. While not the tallest building in the world, this new skyscraper is expected to attract many a visitors in the coming years for its sheer architecture and the history associated with its construction.

Aston Martin might be phasing out their famed DBS coupe, but not before one last hurrah.
